I lived in Kodiak, AK for 3 years. The exploring was a lot of fun! I wish I could have seen more of AK. I remember the cold and not being able to open the door on my Jeep because the locks had frozen! If anyone has ever thought of driving the Alaskan Highway, I highly recommend it!
