Where abouts are the steep tracks and how in the world did you get up by the Y? I'd really like to go over that way and get some pics. I rode a train a few years ago from Sacramento up to Portola and going through the Feather River Canyon was just awesome. The track goes back into spots I never knew were there.

I will post a few of mine when I figure out how to do it. Most of mine would be repeats, but I think I have a few different ones.

The steep tracks are located at a power plant on the right (when heading north). Turn at a green bridge (super sharp angle if heading north). I think it might be the Poe Power Plant.

To get to the Wye, take Keddie Resort Road, turn right when it dead ends, hang a left when that street dead ends. Proceed through UP gate (Posted No Trespassing) and wave at whomever you see - they wave back, you're fine.

I can't wait to find time to ride the train through Feather River. Do you remember the loop? Wierd place. I'm going to camp there next time I go.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check it out. Not sure where the track went but it was just an out of the way place where they let people off to take photos of the steam engine going by. It was the UP 3985 Challenger pulling it's set of cars and smoking up the tunnels hehe. Wish I knew were the photos were of that trip.

Wow... that is a cool Locomotive. Wish I could see it out on the tracks with it's hinged frame and the boiler swinging out over the front portion depending on the curves! WOW!
