Carnage and Fire!

Went up to Carnage (Boulder) again, but this time with only my 4runner. The trail is really icy this time of year which made it very different than usual. We also had to drive through a brush fire that was on the lefthand canyon side of the hill. (You might have seen this on the news last night) Luckly the trail didnt allow the fire to continue to spread all the way up the mountain, and all we had to do was make our way through thick smoke and ash. About 5 minutes later, a bunch of firefighters came speeding up the mountain. Here are a few pictures:

I didn't hear anything about that fire? Did they put it out already?

Yeah, they put it out last night. I think there were 3 brush fires in Colorado yesterday!

I agree, the 4th picture is cool. You should frame it. Glad they put out the fire.

That's pretty cool. Brushfires are fun when it's just the surface fuels burning.

unless you're uphill of the bloody thing and there's alot of that fuel on teh ground... being downhill of a rushing ground cover fire is pretty damn cool though, crazy to see haw fast they can move up slope eh...

Those are really cool pics, most people never get to see that kind of thing and certianly never get to be IN one... pretty erie sometimes, thae crackling, and the kinda slow-mo that the smoke creates cause you can't see much background.

Well, I'm pretty sure the ones you have fought make the ones in Ohio look like a weenie roast :pat:

Buring scrub and cornstalks just ain't the same as PNW old growth forrest.
Either way, its fun too because you don't need an airpack!

yeah, the Steep slopes make the fuel race upill REAL fast, plus the fuel's a pretty good mix of loose fast hun, and light/heavy timber. But hey, any rippin fire's hot and could still burn ya right... Colorado would be unreal (let's all remember Storm King Mountain ) that fuel can be Really dry, and oily... And again, great pics.
