Day drive to some local scenery

Took a drive and a hike to check out a place called high falls which is on the pigeon river that seperates canada and the usa. nice day for it and the water was flowing from the spring melt. No pics of the runner but it drove as great as ever.

looking over high falls

gorge of high falls

chimney on the edge of the river..this thing was huge

This is a boundry marker for canada-usa. pretty neat find. this was actually at a smaller falls called middle falls

middle falls

What's with the chimney on the edge of the river??? How did it get there?
Well there was some indication about half way up the chimney that a house used to be there. That river was used alot to move timber back in the day so may have been a rest house or who knows. Nonetheless this sucker stayed up when the house fell. Kind of a weird site to see when you arent expecting it.

Wow, nice pics. I'm suprised to see such a nice waterfall without any tourists, gates, ticket booths, or somebody trying to sell you stuff.

I have a good friend from Thunder Bay who raves about them. Her folks used to sell them out of their restaurant, The Villa Bianca in Schreiber.

Yes they are pretty good, Not familiar with the place in Schreiber as that is a few hours east of here and usually just drive on through. You should get your friend to send you some persians, so you know what the fuss is all about.
