Corral Canyon 04-22

This was my second trip to this place and like it even more. We went out with my 4runner and my friends Taco. I have the Tundra/OME setup and everything else pretty much stock.

You will see that on one of the photos I gave it my best in order to get the most flex (articulation) out of my back axle. No matter how hard I tried (bent in my rear bumper) I could not get the axle to get to the bump stop. I got within approx. 1.5" with the other side hanging down. So what should I do in order for me to get more full flex? (Rear disconnects, fully remove the sway?) what are the ramifications of the sway bar removal?

Anyways, hope you enjoy the shots. By the way the trails were almost empty. Took the Espinoza loop (using the cut-across), and then thought the guntrail and part of Bronco flats to get back to the paved road.

Sway bar discos are youru answer. You will have more flex, but mroe body roll on the road with it disconnected, that is the reason you want to have disconnects vs. complete removal.

wow i can't believe your wheeling all that with running boards still on!
You better take 'em off before you bend more than just a bumper...your rocker panels will be next. :

I removed my rear sway bar completely, no noticeable effect on road unless I disconnect the front as well then it leans in the turns and while changing lanes on fwy.
I think it was Lars Dennert(made some of the first sets of 3rd gen discos for the front end) that did some measuring/testing and determined that there was little or no difference with the rear bar removed. In fact with all that wheeling there is a chance you bent the rear sway bar anyway.

Steve Schaefer has some pics comparing a brand new sway bar vs. one that had been wheeled extensively vs.wheeled once in the desert with longer shocks. There was about 1/2" of difference between the new one and the wheeled one. He said it will bend before it limits articulation.

Here is a new one and the clearance over the locker cover (if you have one)


And a bent one over the locker cover(you should get one )


I'm always able to crush the rear bump stop when flexing through an obstacle.

and at least take the running boards off, don't tell me you need them for some kind of aid in getting in the truck?

I knew I will get some for the running boards. I hit them twice, and actually wanted them to come off (he he). My next job is taking those guys off, and then sliders but have not figured out where to them locally. Any suggestions on rear sway disconnects?

Yeah, don't bother.
Either remove it completely or leave it on and let it get bent.
Seriously I tried to notice once it was off and I couldn't. It wasn't until I had both front and back off that you can tell.
