i have a 92 4Runner that with the factory tape deck the rear speakers will work but they wont work with either of my aftermarket decks. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

Sounds like wiring. If they were working before but aren't now, I would suspect wiring at the new harness.

theres the seperate harness for the rear speakers. its a 4 pin harness. (actually has spots for like 6 or 8, ill get a pic for you in a few mins)

too bad you dont live here, id help as i JUST finished mine!

edit: heres the pic of what that harness looks like. this is the side that goes to your headunit wiring harness, it plugs into its match in the dash.

they work when i plug the factory deck back in (i used a factory adapter to install the other decks) but they wont work with my pioneer or jvc deck. im to the point i might just run wire straight from the deck to the speakers when i wire up my sub amp.

Yeah if i zero it i get sound just from the front and if i fade it all the way to the rear i get nothing. Edit: i guess i should add that this is the 23rd car i have installed a system in and i have never had this problem before. thats why its so frustrating.

Check this out. Each rear speaker has it's own little amp.

mine didnt either, just tap both remote wires to the one on your headunit.
