That particular thread has some decent info on blocks n such. They'd be a real decent source of info for the 4.3 swap over there. Might be worth a snoop.
I considered stuffing a 4.3 in my '92 Toyota as well. May still be an idea.

Heya John! I'm looking for a 4Runner to put my 4.3 into as well. I gotta vortec 4.3 with tranny and computer still in the van. Let me know what you find and maybe me and Philip can come up and help you if you decide to go this route.

Yes they are different, also I'm not so sure I would want to put a used marine engine in my vehicle. Marine engines even when properly maintained get pretty abused.

the engine is only a couple years old, came from a boat that fell off the trailer and was totaled, i know the guy so i know the history of the motor, maybe 25 or 30 hours on it.
thanks for all the info and good links, i've got some reading to do now before i make any further decisions.

my thought is anything is better than a half dead 3.0, price is also driving this. i can probably get the 4.3 for really cheap, in exchange for some work.

I would also check that rotation thing John...if there is a difference there then that may throw you into some obstacles that would be unnecessary. I don't blame ya for ditching the 3.0...

Swap
This kind of swap was made for a Toy. I have done 2 and am on my third for a friend. I highly recomend it. I had to deal with Cali smog laws so it was important to get all the smog parts from the donor as well as the usual wiring and ECU. Good Luck !
