August Run in North Cali??

Hey guys since Pismo is in July, anybody interested in a run in AUgust in North Cali?

On some wise advise I postponed Death Valley till fall (cooler weather).

I'm currently looking at some trails in the High Sierra region (just south of Yosemite). They are in the area of Oakhurst of Highway 41.
Shuteye peak trail and some trails around it
Iron Lakes Trail and trails around it
And maybe Trumball Peak trail

Input and people interested please post. Still looking at finalizing the logistics. I will probably take a couple of days off and go to the Yosemite first and then hit the trails Sat and Sun, or Fri, Sat and Sun.

jimabena, you will defintely see more trips to hollister posted here, ahriman will probably be first in line, as he is now the self declared king of HH

00Runner, where more or less of highway 4, what town is closeby?

Andries:

Big Bear offers a wide variety of trails for all levels so it should be a fun weekend regardless. Hopefully others will chime in and give us a feedback on what trails we should be considereing

Cya friday at Pismo!

Highway 4 heads east towards Bear Valley ski area. The largest nearby town is probably Arnold. From Morgan Hill it takes around 3 hours to get there. It's very beautiful country much like Tahoe except a lot closer and way less crowded.

For good information on NorCal trails check the NorCal TTORA trails site. Specifically Slickrock, Corral Hollow and Deer Valley for highway 4 trails. This site also has some good information and maps of NorCal trails.

I looked at the pics and ratings on the sites, and I'm not sure if my Runner will be able to do it. It seems a bit lacking in clearance and armour (sliders, bumpers, probably skids as well). What do you think?

I don't know since I've never done any of these trails. I remember reading on his webpage that Robinhood150 did slickrock in his stock 2nd gen. I don't know if he sustained any damage though. But there are lots of other trails in the area as well.

Let me see what I can work out after this weekend at Pismo. Looks like we will just have to be careful then, if I can go.

OK guys, I wont be able to make it to join Brad, maybe some you guys can up at slickrock.

So would August 14-15 work for a run up in the Sierras? I am working on the logistics, but lets agree on a weekend first.

Lance I'm going to chicken out on that one this time round. I will probably just get back in the country, and not really up to such a long drive.

Also you guys with the big rigs will probably have to tow me the whole time
