Tire / gear option opinions....

First the truck, 86 22r 2wd sluggomatic (auto), lifted about 4".
OK, here's what I'm thinking about.
#1, 31" (30.5" actuall height) tires with 4.88 gears, 60mph rpm's of 2258,
#2, 32" (31.5" actuall height) tires with 4.88 gears, 60mph rpm's of 2186,
or
#3, 32" (31.5" actuall height) tires with 5.29 gears, 60mph rpm's of 2370.

In any of these senarios, I'm going to use an ARB or similar locker so I can actually have 2 wheels driving when necessary.

Keep in mind, the automatic has an unreasonably high (numerically low) OD ratio of .7 to 1
From the factory, my rpm's at 60mph are only 2064, actually below the suggested power range for a 4cyl.

Thanks for your input!
Todd

32 with 4.88 would give you nice performance. I'm not familiar with 22re RPM's but I know my truck turns 2750@65 with 32's and I hae 4.56's.

The 22r series tends to run happiest in the 2300-3500 rpm range it seems, or mine does anyway.
Right now I have a 4.10 and 27" tire combo, it's a little better than stock.
I'll be getting a 3rd with 4.37 gears in it next week I think, so I'll have a better comparison to what the 5.29 32" would "feel" like.
Thanks,
Todd

Ya, you're right about that one.
It may take a while to save up enough for a long travel lift (taller too), and I'll need to get the spring mounts swapped to the top side when I do that, but when that does happen, it'll be 33's going on there.
Either that, or I'll SAS it.
Haven't decided yet.

I'm running 5.29 and 33" right now, I wouldn't want to go any lower but then again I have a manual and I've got a set of 35s on order.

Sounds like you need 5.29.

Oh, I'd like to, but 5 things come in conflict:
1. Money
2. Time
3. Space
4. lack of another vehicle to drive, and
5. Money

I gotta move out of the city first, get a second car, then I'll be able to play.
