Spring under axle setup?

Spring under axle setup?
I was hanging around in the garage yesterday and I started to wonder about swiching from the spring over leaf spring/axle setup to the swing under setup. Has anybody done this? Are there any potential drawbacks or issues I'll have? I've got an 85 4runner, with the trail gear 3 inch lift. It's a bit tall now, and I'd hope to gain a lower center of gravity. Just looking for thoughts on the feasibility, or potential problems I'll have doing this.
Thanks

brings the whole truck, frame and everything, closer to the ground
you gain lower center of gravity, but you also loose ground clearence.
like said above, rear is simple, but front may interfere with the steering

You haven't mentioned your purpose for this truck...
If it is a desert truck with long travel springs it makes perfect sense...Thats the way its done when you want to go fast, you need to keep the weight down to get the travel or the bed is 6' in the air at ride height...
