Any real pluses for the T100/tacoma/tundra axles?

I'm wondering if there are any major pluses to running a newer axle vs. running an 87-95 V6 axle? I know about the pinion size, 27 vs 30 on the newer stuff, plus the girdle, but everthing else seems the same. Am I missing something? Seems like the locker availability is there with the newer stuff.

This would be on a lightweight rig with fullwidth (the only reason I ask) axles. So a T100/tundra axle would be close to ideal. I was planning on trying to make it full floater too, so I guess I could run the narrower 87-95 version and run some wider hubs on it to make up the difference.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Do you plan to run T100 axles on the stock IFS? I know coupled with a longtravel kit they off alot more articulation.

A Tundra/T-100 is 67ish. That is a lot to make up from any non-custom Toyota front with just hubs.

Before the new Tundra, this is the best Toyota diff.

The problem with off the shelvers is availability, just not a lot around.

I would run one in a heartbeat, I may yet crossover my custom rear to run the shafts since I need the width.

It'll be a solid axle buggy with most likely a 10 bolt chevy front end (cheap and plentiful), so I'll need the width. I was refering to making the 86 (oops)-95 a full floater with some wider hubs to match the front if I were to use it.

I agree that the older stuff would probably be cheaper and easier to find. So thats what I will probably be searching for, unless I come across a smoking deal on a t100/tundra axle.

Thanks for the info guys.
