90 toyota 4in lift w/ 33's
Its a 5spd yea Im sure those big heavier tires would be hard on my front end and it would harder on my brakes since they have to stop those big tires

If you must do the 4" lift either weld the 3 piece bracket type into one piece brackets or just get the one piece bracket type otherwise you'll definitely want to search on my threads pertaining to how to align your truck yourself.
Even with the 3.0, 5 speed, and 33's the engine works hard. With the 2.4, you'll have your foot to the floor a lot. The clutch will wear much more quickly as will the engine and drivetrain.

I'd save the money you'll spend on the 4" and get gears/lockers. You can fit 33's very inexpensively and have a more durable truck too without the 4" lift. Search and you'll find a load of info or just go to www.4crawler.com.

I have the 22RE and 5 speed with 33x12.50's. It is ok except for the highway. It struggles on hills at highway sppeds in 5th gear. Around town it isn't to bad. Just know it wasn't a race car before. It wont be one after.

i'm running a v6 3.slo with 35x12.50x15's with factory 4.88's 5 speed. its not too bad. but definitely not a high performance machine! pretty much in 4th gear on the freeway until i hit about 75mph. even then i can still run it in 4th and the rpms are at about 3100. and yes my gas mileage sucks.....

I had 33's and stock gears with abracket lift and 5spd. SUCKED
Burn clutches, 1st gear has to slip the clutch to get moving. 5th gear is useless unless you are going downhill witha rocket strapped to the cab.
don't plan on it. 31's are the practical limit for stock gearing witha 5speed and stock gears...and that isn't even ideal.

I do ok with 32's, 5 speed and 4.56. That said I will put 4.88's in when I go up to 33's next time. There is a noticable acceleration change when you go from stock to 32's. I have learned that the 3.0 loves to rev and 3000 RPM is about the magic spot for shifting. No bogging when the higher gear engages.

I've got a Gen1 Runner 22RE(221K) 5spd w/ 31x10.50's and 4.10's and frankly it sucks. If you're going to run 33's run 4.88's with them. I just drove from Portland out to Central Idaho for a weekend of rafting and I was really trying to kill my engine to get up some of the steeper grades with a moderate ammout of gear in the truck. Add the basket rack and Gorge winds and the truck struggles to keep going 55 some times. Gearing is a great way to save your engine the hassle of being in 3rd to make steep grades.
33's are in my near future, and the 4.88's and a locker are the next purchase. I honestly think that if had the propper 4.56 gears for my 31's now, I wouldn't be so damn anxious to do an engine swap. The 22re is killer and it's a torque'y little motor, but it's small so gearing becomes more imparitive than it is on somehting thaty can just grunt though the mechanical disadvantege. That's juat my.02

4.88's with 5speed is the right gearing for 33's.
If you 'wheel the truck at all think about doing lockers while you're in the diffs - the install is essentially identical, so you get the install for "free".
