Noisy Springs
Any cure for noisy leaf springs? When I drive with the window down it's really driving me crazy. 1997 T-100.
Also, just got a recall on the steering in the mail today!

wd40... any spray lubricant...
jack it up (compleatly unload the springs) and put some graphite powder in them...
Put teflon pads at the ends...
check and make shure its not the shock bushings or something with them....

I did spray WD 40 on them and it worked for a couple of days. Then the noise came back. It sounds like I'm driving and old Ford or something.

WD-40 will only last a few days, it is not a very good lubricant afterall, it evaporates and goes bye-bye in short order.
Several fixes that work well are some sort of grease or a graphite paint. For grease, two options, one is to jack up the truck, to lift the rear tires off the ground and get a spray grease with a tube on the spray nozzle and inject grease in between the ends of the leaves. Might help to shove a screwdriver blade in between each leaf to open up the gap if needed, probably lasts for 3-6 months. For a better application, remove and disassemble the spring pack and brush on a good graphite locaded wheel bearing grease between each leaf, reassemble and reinstall. Will probably last a year or so and with the 2nd, may run for several years. Graphite paint (I used SlipCoat) works well, too. Like grease but it is a dry film and does not attract dirt. Figure $30 for a 1 gallon can, got mine from an industrial supply place. Or if there were plastic anti-friction pads and they are missing, replace them. Another option that some find works is to slip sheets of UHMW or Teflon between the leaves.
