Question Who has installed a TRD decal on their 4Runner?

I bought some TRD decals to install on the sides of my 4Runner --- the TRD Sport ones.

What have you done with the decal that overlaps onto the gas cap flap?

Looks like half of the decal will end up on the flap... ?

Also, how do prep the surface before installing them? Swab the area with rubbing alcohol?

I'd appreciate any tips, and any close-up photos!!!

Thanks!

89--I dont see why it would... after they bake the car its usually fully cured, and im sire the elements would have hurt it already if that were the case.... but im no expert..

ooh sorry bush.. as far as prep.. no one mentioned that.. i cleaned my truck area with soap and water, then dried, alcohol pad, then dried again... theres 2 methods of application, one is dry, start from one and and slowly work your way down or across pressingg it on.. using a credit card or equiv to make sire no bubbles, or 2 put a drop of soap in a squirt bottle fill with water, then spray on surface, position decal then squeegee water out... ive never done this method, so i have no clue how it works... ive just been worried of rouining a perfectly good sticker..

Ditto what he said as far as prep goes.

As for putting it over the gas cap, look at the link in my sig (pictures are old as the hills but still show you what i did).

I just took my time to lay it out so that the least amount of the decals was over teh gas cap crack. Then layed it ont he truck as if the gas cap was not there, then after it was on i went back and cut the decals and then folded the extra around the edges of the gas cap.

Quite easy, just need ot plan it out so you have the least amount of the decal in the crack or it will look funny.

I would reccomend putting them on wet. I took an empty windex bottle and put some water and a touch of soap in it and then squirt the place you wish to put the sticker. I also sprayed some on the back of the sticker. This makes it so much easier to install in my opinion because you can move it all around untill you get it exactly where you want it. Then take a credit card and force all the water out. Mine ended up perfectly straight and no bubbles. Ive done other stickers without getting them wet and they didnt turn out so well. Just my .02 cents.

Those mountain stickers and sick. I may have to pick me up a set. Now I am trying to decide the color scheme that will go best on a silver 4runner.

How exactly is the sticker set up? Is it clear that's printed on or are they indiviual stickers on something that holds them in the correct position?

hmm I dont know, what colors do they use for a regular trd sticker on a silver taco? do you want it to blend or stick out, if blend then light colors, but stick out use a dark color scheme

I'll have to think about it. My main thing is the mountains, I want them to stand out but no look retarded. I like that sticker so much better that the factory tacoma mountian sticker.

the taco one looks good on a taco in person, but with the smalller quarterpannel of a 3rd gen it would have been overbearing.. and i like the way these are as well

The gas door really isn't an issue;just place it over the gas door like you would the other side then cut the decal with a sharp razor blade and fold the "extra" inside the door.

You are using the dish soap or windex method to install right? It's much easier that way isntead of trying to stick them correctly with the first try.
