Recently I have been hearing an odd noise coming from my tacoma. It usually happens in third gear between 25 and 30 mph in third gear. Hard to explain over the net but I can feel it in my floor boards. The odd thing is if I put in 4wd the sound goes away. So I take it to a local dealer and they quickly blame my lift and or a bad alignment, charge me $34 and that's it. I call BS and head down to the shop that does my alignment and the spin the wheels and then we hear it. Sounds like it is coming from the Transfer Case. So i headed home lifted the fron end and drain the t-case. The lube is only 8,000 miles old and comes out clean and beautiful. Refill with regular dino lube (thought maybe amzoil did something?) take it for a spin and the noise is still there. Now I am stuck with fighting the local dealership or taking it to yet another dealer and have them look at it. Any help/suggestions?

Guessing that its a inner cv-joint and giving you a bump.

I thought it may be the cv's too but we lifted the front end at full droop and spun the wheels on a spinner and it sounded as smooth as butter. Wouldn't full droop make any noise from a cv even more apparent?

I would think so. Is it possible the spider joints on the driveline are really dry. I hope you realize I'm a no mechanic
