Is there any reason to replace the front coils

if you don't want a lift, but just want to fix your bouncy on-the-road suspension?

I'm a newb to all this, but could I just replace the shocks in the front/back and be set?

replacing the shocks would definetely stiffen things up and get rid of the 'bounce'.. imho that should get you what your looking for.

Shocks first would be a good move, but what year/model/vehicle do you have? Mileage?

1997 4Runner with 110k miles.

I've been wavering between just fixing up the shocks vs. getting a lift (coils, shocks, etc), sliders, and bigger tires (currently running 265 bfg ats).

I've read about the tundra trd lift and a couple others, but I've never done anything to a car, so not sure if that would be way beyond my ability.
