Need some help picking tires.
Well i am tire shopping right now and can't really decide what to get.
I know alot of ppl here have different tires so hopefully everyone will have a different opinion and view on different tires like wear, etc.
Basicly. i do 50% on-road, 50% off road.
When i do off-road, it's mud and soft sand. not many rocks or ne thing.
Right now i'm running 31" Wrangler RT/S. I am getting ready to lift and run 33-35" tires. maybe on stock wheels maybe not.
I am eye balling Wrangler MT/S and Mich. All Terrains.
I am looking for a tire that performs well in Sand and decent mud but also has good road manners and good wear.

you are looking for the perfect tire then.
No MT will give you great road manners as well as great treadwear. If you do a lot of mudding, go with an MT, lots of sand, I would say go with an AT. If you do mild wheeling, go with AT.
Do a search on the following:
MTR
REVOS
NITTO TERRAGRAPPLER
BFG AT KO
BFG MT
COOPER
FIRESTONE DESTINATION MT
P.S. if u are runnig a 16" rim, do a search for 285/75/16

Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo is very popular for drivers with similar needs, but the tallest size is 285/75/16.
BFG All-Terrain KO is popular as well.
Michelins are more of a street tire and the Wrangler MT/S i dont know much about.

anything larger than 33's on your truck is going to cause you to rub..a lot. Fender flares or a 3" BL is what you'll need to keep from rubbing with > 33's. Running on stock wheels is going to cause rubbing so aftermarket wheels with at least 4.25 backspacing or the SCREW-IN wheel spacers will be highly recommended.
BFG Mudterrains have treated me real well so far. I do a lot of runing in the sand and I do pretty well. I haven't had these tires more than 6000 miles so far but they seem to be holding up well.
BTW, have you tried searching?

I agree, a search will yield lots of info and opinions.
I run the 32" Michelin LTX A/T (tallest they make in 16") and love them. Haven't had them in deep mud, but they did well in moderate mud, are great in rain and snow (much better than the OE RT/S), wear well, are quiet and ride well. I imagine if you go in mud on a regular basis, you may want a more aggressive tire though.

Some very good advice given so far. I agree. Based on your stated needs I would use a 33 inch tire in a wider width. I found that I used my old Toyota much like the use you described. I used a 33x14.50x15 Super Swamper SSR with 7" lift. I found it very capable off road & wore very nice on road. If you lift your truck enough, you may want to use 35's.

Nitto Terra Grapplers, Super on the road, and from what every one says, great off road. search "295's" and a couple of great thread are there about running 33's

After trying many different tires to satisfy my off road and on highway driving,mud, snow, sand, rocks,rain and good milage and tire looks I have found that nothing beats "Wild Country".Mike

if it's in your budget - I suggest you use Pirelli Scorpians for road use with a fancy arse rim of your choice.
then swap 'em over when you do offroad with your factory rims and some BFG mudterrains.
It may be a PITS but that way - you get full use of both tires
