Just bought a 97 4runner and am excited about lifting it and getting new tires/wheels! I need advice on what lift I should get.
I had a tacoma with a cornfed 2.5" lift and liked it
so I am ok with doing a spacer lift again
but I also am interested in the OME lift. (which one)

I want to run BFG 32/11.5/15 with 15x8 black steel wheels from wheelers.
i am also getting the TJM 17 bumper!

any advice would be great, i am new with 4 runners! be nice!

Go w/ the ultimate lift for the 3rd gens provided by Steve. Here's a link. Also, read up on his website as the FAQ's really help you decide on whether this lift is right for you. BTW, many have run this (or very similar setup) and it's been the best for on and off-road according to those that have tried it.

I've been running the OME HD gear (shocks and springs) on my 96 for about 5 years now and I've been very happy with it. If I had it to do over again, and could afford it, I'd run OME regular duty shocks/springs wiht a 1" body lift to clear 32s. That will give decent ride, good suspension action, and enough lift to run 32s.

OME is not that cheap. If you only want the lift and you don't buy all the extras (which many feel are required - Steve's stuff), the TRD Tundra and Tacoma stuff is not that expensive, especially if you can get the stuff used.

I did a budget lift and so far I am pleased with the ride. I have 99 4R, with 2.5 inch front Toytec spacer, OME 891 (found used) and N86 rear shocks, and 1.0 inch diff drop kit from 4crawler. Can't forget about the 2 inch BL from 4 crawler too.

If you don't have much $$$... put on a 1-2" body lift. Don't waste money on a crappy suspension setup that will need replacing in the future. Body lift ~ $200 - Good suspension ~ $900-1800

I highly recommend the donahoe coil overs. Best to you! You'll love the new look....

I run the same with OME 890s in the rear....I really like it, but as mentioned, not the cheap route.
......still way cheaper than coilovers though.

It's fine but as others have posted, you want to do the suspension lift right the first time. I bought my Revtek lift b/c I didn't understand what spacers were at the time. If I knew better, I would have made a different decision.

I will attempt to get most parts of the "ultimate lift" but do it piecemeal as I already have the Revtek lift on. This is going to be an expensive proposition for me as I've already dropped money on the Revtek lift and Bilsteins, which will eventually be replaced.

I second the coilovers but I decided against them b/c I don't drive fast in the desert and I don't want to deal w/ rebuilding the coilover down the road, which will need to be done. I like Steve's lift proposal b/c everything is Toyota as far as springs and shocks go. You know that you will always be able to source the parts.
