Hood protector.

Hi there all....

Just got my brand new '05 4Runner a week ago and I am thinking of getting a hood protector to ward off all the stone chips. I have a Toyota 94 PU and the protector really does it's job. Can you please tell me which brand fits the best? I have heard of Toyota and LUND. Any other brands? Any experiences?

thanks all...

I had a Lund on my old '90 and now have the Yota bug deflector on my '00. The Yota deflector seems more structurally secure and a better fit, but mine whistles somewhat over 35 mph. The Lund seemed a bit shakier but didn't whistle, for whatever it's worth.

EGR is another brand (I think that's what it's called), but I think they look a bit funky.

I've got the toyota bug deflector on my hood. It's quiet, no wind noise, and seems to be securely mounted. Try to take a look at one mounted before you buy any of them. I was surprised that mine is mounted a little bit up off the hood, then I realized that the hood actually curves down, and that the deflector is just mounted in the position where a conventional hood would end. lol

i'll second the 3M tape, it does the job without the crudness of those hard plastic bug deflectors ruining the looks of the truck you just purchased. and its real easy to apply( think of tinting the hood of your truck )

Thanks for all your replies... Never even thought about seeing one in person!

I Will definetely check out some this weekend and see what I like. Looks like I am leaning more towards the Toyota deflector. And have it painted the same color on both sides before installing.
