god darn it. Dented my bumper.
I was backing out of my garage this morning, and I was not paying attention. I heard a thud and proclaimed "˟˟˟˟˟". I hit a RR tie retaining wall with the corner of my rear bumper. There doesn't look to be any spidering of the paint on the metal. But, the dent is about 1cm deep and palm sized.
Since I have a $500 collision deductible, I doubt insurance will get any of it.
Any estimates on what this will cost me?
Yeah, I'm stupid.

Diy
Think you might could take off the bumper and pound it out with a rubber mallet from the inside?
If you are going to have to spend the dough to fix it, get one of Schaefer's custom rear bumpers and next time you back into something it'll have the dent and not your bumper!
Sorry for the luck! I know the feeling!

insurance might cover it....lets see
new bumper from toyota 1500 bucks
labor for painting to match 1000 bucks
labor to have it installed and old one removed 2000 bucks
disposal fees 500 bucks
paint/nozzles 1000 bucks
misc 500 bucks
thats 6500 bucks....uh oh....its a total....now the insurance company will give you 1000 dollars for it.....but you can buy it back from them if you want....thats only 4000 dollars.....j/k but cant you tell I love insurance companies (sarcasm intended)
a body shop or a dent doctor in your area should be able to take care of it....dont use insurance unless you have too so your rates dont go up.....

Just get a new RR wing and get it painted for $50. If you need one painted, buy one and have it shipped to me and I'll hit it w/ black and clear and get it to you so you can swap it yourself. Your rig is black, isn't it? Check out Waskillywabbit's Writeup on what I did for him...

I'm going to get a photo of the damage at lunch.

Be glad
Just be glad it was the wing and not a body panel or something big or like my wife did and ripped off an electric powered side mirror backing out of the garage a few years back!

I don't know yet. My b-in-l has his own air-lift company and likes to restore classic cars. I'm sure his friend is an expert and hopefully will cut me a deal.

give me a break
I I think all of the trucks or suv's I've owned had a dent on the bumper or missing parts of the bumper. that's what it's there for bumping crap . I just have never found little dents a big deal

I had a dent like that on the opposite side and in the center, got it after having the 4Runner for TWO WEEKS. Friend's mom in an F350 thought it would be cool to check out a gardener on the side of the road instead of checking to see if the light is red and I stopped. Without paint, it was roughly $600 with labor. The plastic step cost more than both other chrome pieces too. I'd do it myself now and pocket the extra.
