Disc brake grease? where to buy/what else can I use?
Hey, I need some disc brake grease. Noone around here seems to know what I'm talking about, so I am wondering what type of grease this is? Can I substitute a lithium grease or something like that? This is to change the brake pads on my front brakes. Thanks.

I've gotten it at Napa and Autozone before, they should have it. It comes in little plastic tubes like ketchup at fast food places. Maybe ask for disc brake anti-squeal lube? I wouldn't use lithium or other...

I will go to Napa. I went to Advanced Auto Parts, but they are a complete joke and didn't have ANYTHING useful in the entire store. Whew now I can do brakes. Excellent hehe.

Well for the past couple weeks I've just been going from drive to 2 to slow it down, and if I really have to stop I just dump it into 4-low, then park once I'm down to 10-15mph. It's worked okay so far, but obviously it's not good long term.

There is a spray on anti-squeal compound that I have used. They had it at the local base auto hobby shop. Just spray the stuff on the brake pad backing plate, let it dry, and install. The stuff is a lot easier to use than the normal silicone stuff, and less messy. I wish that I had a brand name and part number!:pat:

anti-seize
good ole' anti-seize will work well too. Brush it on the backs of your shim plates and a bit on the backs of your pad and your golden. Don't forget the caliper bolts too, before you torque them down!
