Airbox Mod

Well I'm a proud owner of a massive 2.7L 4 cyl.
Needless to say I need some power, I dropped in a K&N Filter but then I got inch bigger tires, so that cancelled out. I read this writeup and it seems fairly simple. I noticed it said for the 3.0 V6 Engine. Can I still do this mod to my 2.7 and will I be seeing any significant power gain? I'll cross my fingers!

You can do it to any car with a air box.Every one here will have there own opinion but for me it its worth a try ,it does help a little with throttle response.
I just drilled out my air box.

plus if you decide later you want to blow the money on a K&N kit, the hole in the box won't matter since you'll be replacing it anyway. but my opinion would be to do the deck plate mod, it's like $10 for all the material and the only diffence is that you have a little more turbulence in the stock intake tube than you do in the K&N intake tube.

I think there is room to put a deckplate in on the side of your box

there is room in the front of a 2.7L airbox for a 4" deckplate. I did it to mine when I had one. I would suggest putting one in the front rather than the side, so that the opening is not pointing towards the engine. check the link for pic.
