aftermarket temp guage on 2nd gen
who's installed one?
where is the sending unit located on the 3.0?
did disconnecting the factory guage sending unit have any effect on the ecm, or is there a seperate sensor for that?
My factory temp guage bounces around like crazy, and i would rather know the exact water temp anyway.

you've got problems.the guage sending unit is very small(about 1/8th pipe)the aftermarket guage is too big for the hole.there are holes big enough for af/mark but they controll something important.Anyway it sounds like a simple elec prob to me.check some connectors;and grounds.

It was easy--sort of. The temp sender is at the firewall right in the middle of the engine. I bought a Sunpro mechanical guage with the metric adapter kit.
Just took the old one out, put some teflon tape on the adapter and sending unit and tightened it up. I mounted the guage over the old bouncing all over the place guage.
Here is a bad pic-

The sending unit is located at the rear of the engine, behind the upper air intake, in the water bypass block and is a PITA to get to. Some aftermarket units will work in the hole but will usuallt require an adaptor from the BPT to the NPT 1/8 threads. I found it easier to drill and tap a hole in the upper water outlet, where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine to fit the aftermarket sending unit. The Autometer sending unit is a small 1/8 unit!! That way you have no worries!!
