2nd gen airbox mod
One thing i've done in an effort to get more air in there is drill about one hundred 3/16 holes in the drivers side headlight bezel.
This is where the air actually comes in to the air box from this area. Scary to think that thats all it gets to run on. Just remove the bezel from the truck and drill. I did it from the backside of the bezel so i wouldn't drill through anything important. Also painted all the chrome black at the same time. I will be taking the resonator out of the intake airhose tommorow. Got some pipe today so i'll let you know how it goes.

Looks cool Steve.
But in my case it won't work since I run headlamp covers, and it blocks the flow there.
Soon, but not yet, we will have a write-up here from Blu on the silencer removal mod like Dr Z did to the 3.4 engine.
This picture here is Blu's 3.0 engine with the Dr Z mod done to it.
Yes, there is an improvement to the 3.0 by doing this.
After the write-up is done and online here, you can bet your sweet bippy I will be doing the mod too.
Now wipe the drool from the corners of your mouths all you 3.0 owners
Dang, that looks nice.
Steve, I think the holes you drilled, and the combo of the Dr Z mod will be great.
I only run the covers because I have the Hella headamp replacements instaed of the sealed beams.

Today while at the wreckers i also noticed this cool hoodscoop off of an 84 turbo Z. It commes from the drivers side of the hood at the front, so i got to thinking forced induction. What does everyone think of this? Aside from the hole in the hood, I can rig up the rest of the airbox to rest against the hood from underneath. Anyone have any suggestions or would this be worth it. The scoop was only 6 bucks so no big loss there.
thanks in advance.

Hey Corey, are your Hella's the H4 conversion? That is what I went to and found that instead of the Lexan covers to protect against rocks, I went to the thick, clear, adhesive backed, rubberized material that sticks to the front surface of the headlamp lens'. I believe Performance Products sells pre-cut pieces.....I bought mine in an un-cut sheet from Griot's Garage and cut mine to fit the Runner's Hella's and my other car's lens'. Doing this mod would let remove the covers and then let you drill the swiss cheese holes that the rest of us are going to have in our 3.0's

Yes, mine are the "E" spec Hellas.
The Vision Plus which Perf sells are DOT leagl, mine are not.
Mine are also a little brighter that way too.
The E's like I have are almost like the Vision Plus, but they don't have the aiming nubs on the lens for the machines to grab hold of.
I'll have to think about the clear stuff.
Thanks, Corey
