Ok I understand what you are saying. I know I want to add atleast one more bolt to where it mounts to the truck's frame for added strength. For example, when I need to use my hi-lift. I will definitely consider adding some gussets. That would mean notching the sheet metal behind the bumper again. Not a huge deal. I was considering cuttin the whole thing out but we will see.
I appreciate the advice and wish you luck on your future project! If you have any questions or were curious on measurements please feel free to ask. It was a fun project and now I can't wait to start on either the front bumper or a tailgate tire carrier like the ones I have pics of.

Been busy with work and stuff so I haven't done much lately. I think the next think I want to work on is getting the saggy rearend fixed. Truck already has 3" bl. I'm thinking about doing a leaf spring repack. Which leafs do I need to switch out or add? Any suggestions?

Well I decided that while on thanksgiving break from medic school, I would do something about my saggy rear end. Was able to pick up a set of used springs from a slightly newer extra cab on CL for 30 bucks. Score! They already had an AAL (add-a-leaf for those who don't know) that the PO had already installed. Double score! Did a quick wire wheel to knock some of the rust off and then got to it.
Here is the height the truck sits at before
This is where it sits now
Didn't run into any real problems aside from a couple stubborn nuts. Just remember. PB Blaster is your friend!
Inside half of the rear shackle had some major surface rust so I wire wheeled and painted.
Even got the wife to help paint!
Drivers side finished product
Passenger side before
Passenger side after

Thanks man. I appreciate it. Been a lot of fun working on it and doing some minor wheeling. X2 on the extra cab. That extra foot and a half makes all the difference. Wish that there was more open space where I live.

Alright so I have been slacking and haven't been updating like I should be. As far as truck work goes, been pretty basic, oil, air filter, bleed brakes, and energy suspension leaf springs bushing.
Also made my own brake bleeder kit. Nasal cannula tubing is the perfect fit!
Also did a couple of offroad trips
First was Indian flats. Had to improvise to get around the gate.
Made it with no damage or clearance issues.

One last piece of new information. I accepted a position with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department as a FF/EMT. My wife and I will be moving to Lompoc first week of February. We will be there for 3 months during academy and then i will be stationed somewhere in SB county. We are both excited and nervous but we are looking forward to that chapter on our lives. After academy I will have more time to explore and wheel up there so if anyone has any suggestions of where to go I'm all ears. Thanks.
