Kawazx636, I agree with you about the rattle can vs. a "real" paint job.. I think it boils down to the use of the truck.. Mine does go in the woods and I tend to get my fair share of Tennessee pin striping... But it just takes a few minutes and another rattle can to fix almost any damage.

a little more on the Krylon.. The first time I painted the truck with Krylon flat khaki..
I bought all the paint from the same store at the same time.. I did paint the panels separately and the assembled the truck.. It was so BAD that my color blind father in-law could see the difference between the fenders, doors, cab and hood.. So I redid the truck in Rustoleum flat khaki, it took a lot LESS paint, layed down easier and looked 10 times better..

Yep, gmack you got what I was getting at. By all means do not put a $2K+ paint job on a truck that you plan on romping around in the woods and rocks every weekend. Rusto will do perfect for that and touch ups are cheap

Gmack, thanks for the tips on the krylon. I'll probably go with the rustoleum now haha. I want something that's going to lay down well and look decent

And Kawa, for right now I'm just looking for something besides cracked, bubbled, flaking and rusted paint. I do daily this truck but it sees some tight trails sometimes.....so for the time being its gunna get some rattle can love. Eventually I will end up having its original color sprayed again( after I grow out of wanting to trail this one) which was black onyx.

As far as the truck goes, I didn't get a lot done today. I didn't get home from work till about 7. Went out and started to remove the bed and got on the 3rd nut and my impact took a dump on me....it was a cheapo anyways so I'll probably go get a good one tomorrow. I'd like to get the ball rolling before the end of the week. Today didn't start out too good so hopefully the week will get better. But it's a Monday, we all know how that goes

Got some work done last night. A friend and dad helped me lift the bed off and set it down. Pretty heavy with that rollbar on it!

Got the hitch assembly off and am working on disconnecting everything from under the hood. I'm still at a stand-still on the new frame. My sandblaster is somewhere between here and California on a fed-ex truck. Tracking says it should be here by tuesday but who knows? I still have plenty to do though. I have some rot In the corners of my floorboards that I want to get rid of, so I'm hoping to have the cab off over the weekend and to start fixing that at the start of next week. I'll check back in tonight with some more pics.

Gotta go, yota time!!

Well I haven't touched the truck in about a month till today. Lost my job (well I quit) last month so I haven't really had much extra cash to throw at the yota. I was doing granite work and it was good money but the guy honestly didn't know how to run a business and I got out before I got caught up in his BS. I was doing all the work cutting and polishing while he was out doing god knows what. There were at least 2 people a day coming by his shop asking for money he owed them. I learned after that he has had about 5 businesses already that he ran into the ground. But I'm working with my dad again now so I'm back to making some money with someone I can trust.

Ok...rant over...lol

Yesterday afternoon I was backing out of the driveway in the DD Honda and I stopped at the end of the driveway and looked both ways as I always do. I then pulled out and BAM a guy slammed into the right rear quarter panel of the car. I am fine right now...whiplash pretty bad and a lot of soreness. The other driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt and hit his forehead on the windshield and gashed it open....he was bleeding pretty bad. I stayed with him and helped him out until EMS got there. He was fine as far as I know. Totaled both cars.

So now i have to get my @$$ in gear and get my truck going again.....lol. I basically have everything disconnected from under the hood now. Did that today, and also pulled off a few odds and ends. I'm at a stand still on the intermediate shaft for the steering?? Should I just disconnect the box and pull it back till the shaft slides out?

And also after I pull the cab I need to patch the floor in the corners. What gauge of sheet would work best for this??
