Picked up an SR5 1979 shortbox for parts. No motor. Trans is not the L43 its been swapped, not sure what it is yet. Factory A/C, power steering, and the drivers window is even power. Wow. Has what looks like a Skyjacker all leaf lift kit. Any idea on how to tell what amount of lift springs that are by measuring?

My 80 is stripped and loaded on the trailer. Here are some pics of the tired drivetrain. Floor pans are getting replaced next week.

Got the 79 in the shop, tore her down. L series tranny and tcase are good, not sure hoping its the L52 havent popped the input bearing yet. Got a Doug Thorley header and some Skyjacker springs (I think). The 33s clear easy, looks like with that lift I will run some 35s and 5:29 gears.

Firth, all i can say is, no matter how it looks in there,....bend that tunnel,....3/4 inch would do it, the L50 makes firm contact just forward of the transmission shifter hole, and it turns your cab into a speaker box for the transmission. It is seriously loud and bothersome. a floor jack and a piece of wood should do the trick. I didnt do it, now im trying to figure out how to do it without removing my tranny, not so easy.

The transmission is done! Looks good.

Engine is short blocked, still having head issues!

I'm a mechanic for john deere and so between the hot tank and steam washer I got her pretty sparkling. Then paint the cast part black.

79 headed in for scrap!

The 80 should be home soon, waiting for the floors to get done!

Already did. Floors rusted through, bed falling off, rest of body is cheap-o paint job over cancer metal. All the drivetrain and power steering I took off.
