Hey guys,
As some of you know i have a built Hyundai Tiburon GT which i'm trying to sell. I was gonna take the cash and buy a project car. But now i have some bigger plans. I was looking into buying a 90's Lexus SC400. Does anyone have any opinions on these? I did some research and found that they often go 300K+ (typical Toyota ).

i was looking into getting a LS400 or LS430... not the SC400, but i can tell you it was not uncommon to see some crazy high milages.
in fact, on different lexus forums people were buying them with well over 100k upwards to 200+k.
the consensus about buying these cars was the 100k and 200k mile maintenance because those were the costly ones.
so, if you find one you like and the water pump, tie rods and whatever else has been changed out - get it!
enjoy and let us know what you end up with.

Thanks for the response! The ones im finding are in the 100-175K range. And thats good to hear that they can go good for long. I'm looking for one that has had the timing belt/water pumped changed already at 90K. Just hoping for some old person to be selling one at the time.

i was cruising craigslist for the LS 400/430s.
also, do a search for lexus forums.
there's about 2 or 3 that i was visiting for a little while.
you find people introducing themselves with their new LS/SC with crazy mileages!
i ended up getting a van as my dad is pretty much wheel chair bound these days.
so, i needed something that can handle 7 people, wheelchair and whatever else we needed for bbq/grilling trips to the beach/park.
here's a pic of the beast... it's got a coleman roof rack that i got from that crazy costco deal and an extension that i picked up from amazon.
good luck with the search!!!

Too bad you had to get a van but you gotta do what you gotta do. I found a couple SC400's that i like, within price range with decent mileage. I'm going to check a few of them out. I already discovered ClubLexus.com and ive been posting a bit on that forum.
-I'll have to let you guys know what i find.
