New tires on stock rims?

One of my neighbors does scrap metal work and hauls cars all the time and came across a set of nearly brand new BF Goodrich A/T Baja Champion 31x10.50 R15 and i was actually curious to know if these would fit my stock rims? He's offering to give them to me which of course i accepted but i'm struggling to find some good used 15 inch rims for under 200 dollars. Not a very big budget but i've come across them for that cheap on craigslist before so I know if i wait, i can get them for that.

So I was wondering, would these tires fit my stock rims? From my inspections they should, but i thought i'd ask before i put any effort into it. I'd hate to not have my stock tires to put back on for fuel efficiency but I guess i can go without for a while until i come across a cheap set of rims on craigslist.

If they do fit, how hard is it to switch these myself?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I run those same tires. I was told that they would fit the stock 15x7 rims on our toyota's but I ordered a set of 15x8 so it won't look so narrow vs 15x7. If you don't care about using stock toyota rims you can always order a set of steel wheels, mine were $40 ea brand new at summit racing. 15x8 cragar soft 8.

They will fit fine. I run 33x10.50s on stock 15x6 rims and they work great:

Only problem you may run into is finding a shop to mount them for you. Typically a 15x8 rim is the minimum recommended for that size tire and some shops won't go narrower. May have to search around for a shop that will just do what you want. I now mount my own tires, so don't have to mess around with the shops.

Wow, that's amazing. I will definitely look into that and maybe place my order tonight.

Ah, thanks. I'll keep that in mind if i go that route. In my area most places employ illegal immigrants anyways so I doubt they will argue when I have cash in hand. If so I know a guy thats TSA certified and works for Midas that will do it for near dirt cheap.

Thanks for the help.

I run my 31x10.50x15 all terrains on my stock 15x7 rims, and they look and feel fine. They were mounted by Americas/Discount Tires, so I'm sure you could find someone who will mount them...money talks

Thanks. Yeah I might end up having to do that. I searched for the Cragar soft 8 but was only able to find them in 5 bolt patterns. =/ Would love to have a set if they came in the 6 bolt.

They're the 6x5.5 bolt pattern so they fit on toyota's. The -12mm offset makes the tires stick outside the fenders about an inch but that's the look I was going for, if you don't want that then get one with a more positive offset. Checkout the D window style too, you might like that one.

This what I ordered from summit:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Cragar “Soft 8” 15x8 Wheel (Series 397, PART # CRR-3975860, Backspacing is 4”, offset is -12mm), U.S. Wheel Chrome Center Cap (PART # USW-C425-P, 4.280” Diameter), Summit Racing Equipment Acorn Black Chrome Lug Nuts (PART # SUM-754001B, 12x1.5mm Closed End), Gorilla Acorn Black Chrome Wheel Locks (Part # 71631NBC).

Ah ok. Yeah I think i'll like them sticking out a little also. For some reason when I searched those didn't pop up. I'm creating a shortcut and will probably place an order on friday after I get paid.

Thanks again.

Is your avatar photo your truck? I think that the Toyota stock alloy wheels are 15x8....Most steelies are 15x7, but some where 15x8. I could be wrong, though..

How do you figure out how much offset? I'm not interested in having mine stick out at all..

Nope the IFS alloys were 15x7 and all the steel wheels are 15x6. Here is the wheel specs from an '90s vintage steel wheel:

Measure, stock IFS wheel backspacing is ~4-3/4":

They came factory on that size for the 90-95 4Runners, so ya they would fit.

Ok, I see.

Now, is offset and backspacing the same thing? They are listed as offset of -12mm, backspacing of 4"..
I know my truck needs 3" or less backspacing. That's easy to order, but I don't know anything about offset..
