frame tube question?

allright so when i was drilling out the holes in my frame i got a lil frustrated and it was dark and i started the hole in the wrong spot.. about 1/2 an inch to far back...i re adjusted and drilled it right but i was wondering about what to do with the wallerd hole on the outside frame rail...was thinking about just drilling another hole in some plate and welding it on in place to cover the hole and for something to weld the frame tube too.. but im not sure..what do you guys think

Well, the frame steel is only about 1/8" (3mm) or so thick, so that should be sufficient. Just don't want it thicker than the amount the tube sticks out past the frame. Or just pick up a large flat washer and drill it out to fit if you don't have any scrap to use. That is how I repaired the front of my frame when the steering box ripped out the sleeves welded into the frame (original All Pro crossover steering install w/o any plating). Used washers to fill in where the frame tube collapsed, then plated over that and it has held fine for 13 years now.
