04 dc tacoma sas advice
i have an 04 dc taco and am looking into doing a sas while Im visiting my mom in colorado. what Im stuck on is fox coil over with links or the trail gear kit hopefully with fox also. i would like the ride of the coil overs but want advice on whats gonna have more maintenance and what should hold up better in alaska when its -40 for a month. Also the work will either be done by addicted off road or moab 4x4 outpost(m40). Ive searched and haven't found much for long term maintenance or if the cold will have any negative effects. any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

thats true scuba but its also alot more to brak and wear out, its nice to just replace bushing in a spring rather than heims and rod ends, but thats just my opinion, im building my rig, sounds stupid, for doomsday, it will have mechanical injected diesel, will run in the event of an emp attack, and leaves at all four corners. i need it to be as reliable and as simple as possible. to each his own and to be honest if i had to coin to build another crawler it would definatly be a 3-4 link setup and be wicked. i guess the question to ask is what kind of mechanical ability do you have a 3-4 link to some is alot harder to set up correctly than hangers and shackles. if i had the cash i would get the trail gear kit for the bracketry for the link setup and measure 100 times before welding anything, and i would replace the crappy tg ends with higher quality ones when they wear out.

i guess too the cold could have a negative effect on leaf springs as they can get a little brittle at twemps that low, i guess you could break one but if it was me i wouldnt want to wheel in weather that cold ha ha

trail gear kit for bracketry? ever heard of ballistic?

hey man just throwing it out there since he stated reliability out in the arctic enviroment where it really counts. and i checked out ballistic fab cool stuff. and scotty i guess i shouldnt believe everything they say about trail gear!! what ever you do man an 04 taco would be sweet sas'd cant wait to see the writeup

so i put the order in today for the trailgear kit with 4 inch leafs. with rock assault housing arb air locker with 4.88. gonna be running 35s. hope the proportions arent off. maybe i should have got the 3inch. either way im stoked they told me it will be in friday or monday all i have left to get is rubber and a spindle. will post the before pics tomorrow. and the rest when were finished hopefully my new corbuea seats are in before so its complete when she rolls out the shop. being i have to get back to alaska in the next two weeks to get back to work

The transformation has begun if all goes well I'll be rolling round in my sasd locked f and r taco on 35s Monday night. Ran in to small snag as the bumper needs modified since It mounts up to the bottOm of the frame little cutting and welding. Having custom ends made since iv read so much about the tg ones failing. Anyways post pics tommorow night
