Finally - No more running boards!
OK, so it took me a little while but I finally convinced myself that it was worth it. My running boards are history!
I'll have better pics up later...here are two I took in my garage, chitty lighting but better than nothin for now.

Thanks for the comments guys...and yes, definately GOD MUD!
Well...I figured that was the place to post pictures, didn't want to junk up the General Tech section with pics of running boars being taken off as that was one of the easiest things I have ever done...althought I must say, the hardest part was chipping away at the frozen mud which in the end, was the ONLY thing preventing me from getting them off...a little karate kick and redneck stomp was the deciding factor in the end
If you Mods think this would be better off in the General Tech section that would be fine with me...

The way a 4RUNNER should look.
By the way, I just noticed how you mounted your rims without center hub caps.
Did you paint the gold grease cap black or is the mud causing it to look black?

Yeah, I painted the brass cap with some Rustoleum paint...its needing another coat though, paints starting to come off due to the abuse they have been taking here lately. I'm hoping eventually I'll end up painting the entire thing as Brian did.
Thanks for all the comments,

Thanks Vato...I would highly recommend taking the boards off, however...if you plan to drive on any kind of gravel driveway or rocks or anything, seriously consider some front mud flaps. I'm looking for some now because my paint is going to get pounded!

You know, that's kind of funny because my brother just took his running boards off of his new white 94 runner. I happened to have a set of 1st gen front flaps I found in a boneyard that wouldn't fit on my truck when I got home. I snuck them on his ride and he didn't even notice until we got in to the mud because no mud would go on the sides of his rig!

Yeah the first thing I did to my rig was take off those running boards. In fact, it was the day after I bought it!

Yeah, the difference is amazing...I was looking at a video of me doing donuts with the boards on and it looked horrible, it looks HUGE now...I love it
