So I finally found the truck I've been looking for, a CLEAN x-cab manual 22re 4x4 with low miles, and am going to check it out on Saturday.

As long as everything checks out, I plan on buying it. I'll be sure to ask/check its history, general maintenance and records, timing chain, head gasket, any leaks, ball joints, and to make sure everything works properly (A/C, hub locks, 4wd hi and lo, etc). It would be great if you could point out anything else I should look out for or if those years had any particular issues.

The main thing I'd like to hear your opinions on is the price. Am I crazy for thinking $7,000 is way steep? I was planning on offering 5k and going from there, hoping to stay under 6k. Do you think it should be cheaper or does one like this warrant such a price?

$7000 seems high to me, but finding one in your area is bound to be a tough find. Also getting one in great condition can cost quite a bit if you are having the work done. You could spend several thousands on one if not careful.

I have seen nice trucks like that one but with their age and previous owners, time is taking it toll on them. I am not knocking the truck, it looks like a rare find. Just dont want you to think it is still in a new condition.

Those extended cabs are tough to find. I had one and miss it badly. They are some great trucks.

Ive been offered a lot more than that for mine and wouldn't take it. Its just money and I would rather have the pickup.

Look at the fuel and Brake lines don`t be afraid to get under neath and give it a good going over .

Don`t let your Lust for a Toyota 4X4 over come your common sense.

I think that is to much I paid $8,000.00 for a 3.4 5Speed Tacoma 2000 with Less mileage.

After all it is your decision and Money

$7k seems high. I got my 91 a year ago with 85k on the clock for $5k. I would check that thing up and down for rust. My truck been down south all its life and still has a quarter size rust hole in the door.

How long have you been looking? If you been checking CL religiously for a couple months and this is the best deal, then yeah jump on it. I looked around for a while before I found a good deal.

I paid $5500 for my '94 standard cab in '04. State Farm paid me $3800 in '13 to total it after crushing Bambi.

I knew these are becoming fewer and farther between. After the buyback and natural selection. But I paid $6500 for my '99 4Runner in April with81k miles and the e-locker.

But hey, I drove my '94 for a decade. So I understand if you spend a mountain of money for a clean one.

Thanks guys. I've been hunting the east coast and midwest for a few weeks so not a lot of time, although I inquired about that one within an hour of it being posted. I need to get a truck of some sort before Thursday, even if it's a temporary POS, but maybe I got lucky and found a keeper. I'll post the outcome of taking a look tomorrow.

In the PNW i have seen them as high as $9K

When you go check it out, think from the point of view that it's yours, what's the least you would take for it? That's the most you should pay.
