silverstar vs vision plus

silverstar vs vision plus
both sylvania silverstar and philips vission plus are around the same price. Which is better & lasts longer? Spending $40 with tax, I want something that will last. Piaa also has one, but its more, and not sure if it will last any longer.

Are the nighthawks equal to the silverstar in your opinion? How long have you had them?

Silverstars won't last long if you have DRLs but then again any bulb life will be shorter but the Sylvanias might only go 6 months or so.
I don't have DRLs and mine are still going after nearly two years and I also have the fog bulbs too.
Nice light but their wet weather performance could be better.

there is a thread about this...try searching silverstars and night hawks.
I have the GE nighthawks and I love them. There is no blueish tint and they dont look "ricey"
If you really want nice bulbs...go to http://www.danielsternlighting.com/
that guy really knows waht he is talking about.
EDIT- To answer your question, the GE nighthawks destroy the silverstars. THere is a lot more visible/usable light on the road. Now, the silverstars do look "cooler" but for me, its function over form.

Nighthawks are also a bit cheaper (over $10 cheaper a pair) but I've compared them directly to my Slivers against my mom's '99 Runner equipped with the GEs and they're pretty much the same but the GEs don't come in the H3 fog lamp bulbs yet. The Silverstar fogs do put out more light than the OEM H3s do but at $35/pair they are costly too.

I have no experience with the Nighthawks, but have had Silverstars in a 4G Maxima, 98 Accord, and a 3G 4Runner for over three years with no problems. The Maxima community has played around with various bulbs over the years because the factory 4G headlights aren't the best and are almost useless in the rain at night. Apparently, with the expense and trouble of HID conversions or retrofits using GTR-33 headlights to get better lighting, they are one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to increase lighting.
General consensus is that the Silverstars provide a relatively good value, whereas with PIAA and Nokya brands, they cost a lot more, burn out more frequently, and generally are only good for a "ricer" look. Of course, YMMV.
Just my .02,
Merlin
