My 22re won't shut off???
'92 4x4 22re. Started happening a few days ago. Turn off the ignition and the truck keeps running. The dash instruments go off as usual (tach, voltmeter, etc go down). Happens most of the time, although once in a while it will turn off just fine. I usually have to unhook the battery to shut the truck off. Most of the time when I turn the key it keeps running as normal, revving up slightly (maybe a few hundred rpm). Sometimes when I turn the key it chugs for a second as if starved for fuel but then picks up and runs at normal rpm. Very frustrating. I haven't done any electrical work in the past year or so and the truck runs fine otherwise. Any ideas??

sounds like a bad ignition switch to me. when you put the battery terminal back on with the key off can you hear the fuel pump do its 2 second cycle? If so you either have a bad ignition switch or you have a EFI wire that is chaffing to a battery constant wire keeping the engine alive. My money is on the switch though.

Pos/Neg terminals connected, engine off and key to on position, I don't think anyone with an unmodified fuel system and a 22RE will hear their FP run. ECU has to see VAFM movement to power fuel pump. (correct me if wrong, guys, I just went simple) Try pulling and testing key switch itself? See if it still has a closed circuit in off position?
