Ok how do you accurately measure the gap on IK22 plugs? They have a "U- groove" on the under side of the tip. A feeler gauge will not measure the distance between the grooved part of the tip and the electrode it will only measure the distance between the non-grooved part of the tip and the electrode. Out of the box 4 of them were about .030 and 2 were about .028 between the non-grooved part of the tip and the electrode.

Yeah I found a scrap piece of wire that is .042, I'll open them up until I can slide that into the groove, that will be a lot closer to .043 than they came in the box anyway.

Ignore the groove.

The gap is set to the closest part of the electrodes. The spart does not come out of the groove. It will jump to the corner of it.

Just pretend the groove is not there and don't confuse yourself.

I got roughly the same readings out of the box on the plugs I recently put in. IIRC, I put the gap around 0.035 last time, this time I was shooting for 0.042. I was curious if anyone has found a "sweet spot" for the IK22 gap.
