How much should it cost me to install 4 new shock on my 96 limited 4X4 runner?

thinking about getting the Tokico TrekMasters and having a shop put them on and want to know what a reasonable price should be.

I dont know what the book hours are for the job but i do know that if I were to do it in a shop with all the tools - 2 hours max. My guess would be $175 to $250 plus parts.

About the fronts - If you can remove 3 small nuts and 1 large bolt (19 mm socket needed), you can just remove them yourself and bring them down to a shop for them to change out there and then install yourself.

I did part of this before Christmas. I did the rears myself and actually pulled the front spring with the shock. The more I looked at it the less I like the idea of taking them in and then hoping it all lined up after I got back home. I paid 170 for them to do both fronts and was correct that the eyebolts on the new shocks did not even come close to lining up after putting it in the spring. They had to recompress it twice to get it lined up. It was worth the bucks to not screw around with a spring compressor on Christmas.

It obviously depends where you live and how competitive the local garages.
I'd agree on the $150-250 plus parts for shocks all around.

nice pick w/ those shocks. it will ride stiffer than oem but thatll keep to minimal body roll.

I did it myself and it did take about 5 hours for the front. But once I figured out one side, the other side took maybe 45 minutes. Now, I could do the fronts in less than 2 hours. If I had air tools, then less than that. Fronts were actually pretty easy. The rears were PITA. I hate that little nut on the top of the shock.

I don't know how hard it is to do for the rears since I have a Tacoma, but the fronts are not really that bad if you have the time, patience, and a few tools. An air wrench comes in handy for busting the bottom eye bolt loose. Doing it for the first time is a learning experience, but it is not complicated.

I'm glad I did mine rather than paying about $150.00 or more to do it.

Is there something bad about lineing it up the closest (3 options) and then turning the shock via a long bar through the eyebolt to line it up? Thats what I did, worked like a charm.

I don't think so, because it has been suggested by several others on various other threads. However, when I did mine, I did not realize that could be done and had to recompress each to get it line up properly. I wish I had known that beforehand. It would have saved me about 2 hours.
