Braking Problem

I dont know if its me or the T100, but my camry did the same thing and it had 4 wheel disc vs front disc/rear drum. FYI: 96 T100 4x4 SR5, 31" tires. Now I do have antilock brakes as far as I can tell b/c the little abs light comeson when I start the truck and when I press downhard (regardless of the problem) they pulsate.

While driving if I am on a regular road (which is graded to let the water run off with the high spot in the middle and either side being lower) if I push down on my brakes with decent force my wheel turns to my left, I just had my brakes and rotors done with brembo blanks and hawk light truck/suv pads (according to tire rack they rate very high). I had the whole passenger caliper replaced 2x already b/c the first one froze up.

I sometimes have to fight the wheel abit to get it to go straight. It feels as if the whole truck wants to turn left a bit and its very annoying. My 93 camry v6 did this same exact thing no matter what I ever did-so either its my driving or a common yota problem.

and this doesn't happen on flat roads? what about on hills?

Flat roads, on hills I didnt notice it to much-its very flat here so I cant say for sure. On flat/semi flat roads its very pronounced if I am going 40 and apply moderate pressure.

Maybe I am nuts and its just the road but wouldnt it make more sense to turn to the grade-that being the right of the road if I am on that side?

ÅÅÅÅING A! I know what it is now, and I am gonna kill my mechanic! The replacement caliper froze up and I couldnt get back to him so I waited a bit, it due some small gouges into the rotor maybe 1/16" deep b/c the pad was locked in.

I took it back and I told him to turn the rotor and put a new caliper on, looks like he forgot to turn it! Damn!!!

Ok if it isnt the rotor causing it (will find out tommorow) anyone have any idea what else if could be-just incase?

Like I said, if I brake hard the entire frontend wants to steer tot he left and I need to fight it a bit to get it straight. It tracks fine so its not the alignment.

Ok rotor did need to be cut as I suspected, but it still pulls to the left when braking hard-maybe the alignment? My mechanic sat with it for 3 hours and is stumped right now, he checked every possible thing but that. I think I am gonna go make an appt for an aligment tommorow.

sounds like an alignment type of issue, i have the same thing and my alignment is way out. take it to wherever you take it and get he alignment done, it will make a world on diffence

Thanks for the advice, there is an sts down the road that does good work, gonna give'em a call.

lucky day for you, the sts by where i live does horrible work, my buddy had his civic in for just two wheels mounted balanced and a 4 wheel alignment, the guy cranked the lugs on so tight with the impact gun that he bent the wheels and the rotors, and it took me a breaker bar and pipe and my buddy pushing on me to get em off...btw where in jerz are ya? im up by hackettstown but i used to live in bloomfield, vernon, basically anywhere central and above.

For those intertested, yes it was the alignment as I had figured. Truck now tracks fine and stops fine.
