block cracked

how would a cracked block run. would i see any evidence of it. what should i look for

I would say it would run extremely poorly if at all.

depends on the crack...it would run not so good tho, best guess would be as if you had air in the cooling system

Similar symptoms to a bad HG:
Air/combustion gas in coolant, oil in coolant, coolant in oil, fouled plugs, white exhaust or any combination of above.

A frozen block due to lack of antifreeze will leak coolant but the frost plugs should pop out before that happens if they are not rusted in solid.

What makes you think the block is cracked vs a bad HG?

i dont think its cracked i think my timing cover has hole in it .the oil was black the top of the valve cover was foamy brown, i think colant was spraying up there
