95 4runner 3vze EGR Valve Question
So... CEL is on... Code 71 (sigh)... and since I lack any diagnostic equipment I think I'll start with the OE (160,000mi) valve and work from there.
Just curious as to parts... Are there any aftermarket valves on the market that are up to OE specs? The local toyota dealership quoted my $65.95 for the valve
And any diagnostic tips if that doesn't work would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Start simple... Is it plugged in?
Mine was throwing a code 71 and the EGR wasn't making a good connection at the plug. 2 minutes and $0 later.... it was cured.

one more piece of info... The CEL stays on constantly, even when the engine first starts cold and warms up... Does that make a difference in what could be a problem?
And will have to check that... Thanks swim

ha, your the man swim... I may or may not have disconnected the plug to reach the plugs when I changed them... And may or may not have forgotten to plug it back in...
