Will tires affect gears

I'm looking at buying a 88 4wd pickup with 22re that has 33s on it and was wondering if those have affect on differential gears or anything I should look for when it comes to the after market tires. I know it has affect on gas and speed and handling. I used to have an 85 4runner with 35s on it an they said the gears should have been changed but never were so there were problems

Larger tires affect braking, handling, & effectively give you numerically lower gearing, so to retain power, you'd have to change the gearing.

I think this is one of those questions where everyone will shake their head and say "search, search, search!" But anyways, yes it will affect your gearing. 33s are okay on stock stuff IMO but that's where i draw the line. i have 33s and stock gears.

Yeah I know I shoulda searched but sometimes I get lazy. I did find a gear chart for changing ring and pinion for tire size though.

33's on stock gearing actually would depend on the stock gearing, right?

If the truck came with 4.10 and 28" tires, even going to a 31" tire would affect the gearing... trust me on that since that's where my 88 4Runner came from. 33's on it would've been excrutiating, in all reality. I could rev to +5000/70mph in 3rd on 6% grades with 31's but I don't think I could've done that with 33's.
