Radiator overflowing after driving on interstate

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and I had a question on my '93 22RE 4x4 Pickup. After driving on the interstate yesterday at 70 MPH for about 30 minutes I got out of the truck and I could hear the radiator boiling over onto the overflow. Today I replaced the thermostat and changed the oil and drove at 70 MPH for long enough to get it to do it again.
The temp gage never got near the midway point, so is this normal and I just have never noticed it before? I warm up the engine every morning in the winter so that my heater in warm and the temp gage stays in the normal range.
Thanks in advance for the advice.
-Joe

mkayyyy. well still, even though you live in NM, its still getting cold...

I had a theory..but I proved it wrong. so really..nvm.
is it BOILING over? or do you mean just spilling over?...
try changing the ratio of anti-freeze/water for a colder temperature.

yup yup. Anti-freeze raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point.
IMO, people who run straight water run the risk of over heating.

whoops. sorry I didnt see this post.
well, im assuming you now have a 50/50 mix, so increase it to 60/40, anti-freeze/water, respectively.

Make sure that:

You have a good 50/50 mix of coolant and water (some recoment 60/40), but I go by the FSM.

You have no air in the cooling system. You need to burp the radiator everytime you drain and replace coolant.

Then make sure your rad cap is good. If its bad it can cause your system to boil premature..
