heated o2 sensor for headers?

I am running the stock single wire o2 sensor on my pacesetter headers( 22re )it is located on one tube about halfway to the collector. I have heard that its important to run a heated sensor and it seems the location would dictate that to some degree.
What are the pros and cons? should I move the sensor? change to a heated one?
Thanks for the help

All the above are options. If the sensor is working OK as-is, leave it. Otherwise add a heated sensor or move the unheated sensor down past the collector. I run a 1-wire sensor in my old LC headers in one of the down tubes. As long as I run a Denso sensor with the longer tip, it seems to work fine.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it probably applies. I have had codes set with non-Denso sensors (they have a shorter, smaller tip) and will see a random code on wheeling trips with long stretches of low RPM running, but used to get that even with the stock exhaust. I think the next time I replace the current sensor, I may pop for a heated one as they are supposed to work a little better and start working faster. Might see a little bump in MPG.

Makes perfect sense Thanks 4Crawler, I think I will wait untill its time to change this one and add the heated one to the current location.
