Foward Shift Modification Question

Is it possible to extend the shift rod that connects to the shift fork on a forward shift transfer case to accomidate a V6 adapter plate and keep the transfer shift in the original position on a R150F transmission.

You must use a top shifter when adapting a gear drive transfer case to a v6.

Can anyone explain to me why its a must to convert it to topshift. I understand the shift rail will be to short with the V6 adapter plate i just dont understand why the shift rail cant be lengthend since the transmission has the provision for a foward shift transfer case shifter.

The shift rails interfere with the adapter plate.

Your shifter should stay close to the original spot with a top shift transfer.

Edit: Been doing some googling... Seems you can avoid the adapter by getting a r151F (good luck finding one) tail housing, and that would allow you to run a forward shift case. Maybe? Maybe some one can chime in....
