im might be able to get a good deal on some 35x15.50x15 super swampers...and i was wondering what the minimum amount of lift i would need to run these...im on a VERY LIMITED BUDGET....so i cant do a a high $$$ lift just yet...and what size rims would i have to run with those..(15x7, 15x8, 15x10)...thanks in advance..im running a 80' 4x4 p/u..with a 20r...is it going to lose ALOT OF POWER..or just a little bit..thanks

hmm...

Well, if you really want them then go for it. What is a good deal? If it's too good to pass up, buy them and put them in storage until a lift is affordable. 35X15.5's are going to be rediculous in terms of both power and clearance. Typically, it's not the diameter, but rather the width that creates fitment issues. Most people cannot fit 12.5" width tires without modification, much less 15+. A 10" wide wheel is better than the others, but theoretically is 5.5" narrower than the tire. I feel as if approximately 2" - 2.5" is the sweet spot for wheel to tire "ratio". Is this a daily driver? After a lot of nothing that I have just provided, in the end it is your truck and your money that you use to make the new meats fit. Best of luck to you and post some pitures if you get them.

well it is my DD...but the farthest i EVER go with the truck on the highway is roughly 10 to 12 miles...and thats usually about once a month...most of it would be driving through town...and i might keep my 31x10.50x15 TSL's and just switch in the 35x15.50's for muddin and playin around...or for a cruize night..LOL...but what would be the lift i need to run them...(tires sticking out past the fenders doenst bother us ppl around here lol cops usually dont care unless its RIDICULOUS...like the 15.50's prob will be) but flares ca fix that...ot sure on how good the deal is...just found them today..no price yet for the set of 4...or how worn they are...but if i get the 35's..then my lift kit would be built around the tires...so once again...the minimum amount of lift needed??????....usually dont flex much when im muddin it up...but i would need a little bit of flex...(rubbing is no issue either...i can trim away on this puppy)

If you get bigger tires, you'll have to change your name from camo31"10.50" to camo15"15.50"

For that size tire, a 15x10" rim would be best.

As for cheap lift..

You can get some 63" chevys for the rear, probibly give you a few inches of lift, make a custom front leaf pack, and buy a 3" body lift. You could probibly run them with some trimming.

You will want to re-gear asap though.

Eh, you might be able to fit those babys on there with NO lift, but if you want to turn, or drive over any sort of bumps without rubbing a rediculous amound, then you might really wanna lift. I cant recommend one for an 1980. I will say this, though: you would be better off getting a locker, or something before you get those tires. But since I do not own YOUR truck, then get the tires, get some lube, and trim the living S*** out of your fenders, cuz it's gonna be a tight fit

cheapest would be running the rears up front, chevy swap in the rear. Or, just hack it. Dump the bed and trim the fenders out. no lift needed.

Well, you wouldn't doing any "muddin" in them without re-gearing because the weight of them would kill you.
Also, regarding the DD, without a brake upgrade, you're most likely find stopping quickly (someone or something pulling out in front of you, someone stopping quickly in front of you, etc), is nothing more than a dream.
