1stgen 4Runner Sag 89-95 Springs?

I am trying to word this the best i can so it makes sense to others. I have searched but can't seem to find any information, and maybe that is because this isn't usually done.

I have an 87 4Runner with rear sag and need to get her raised up again. I don't want to use blocks, and a chevy spring conversion is in my future, but that will need to go on a 'less' rusty frame. so....

I picked up a set of 93 4x4 springs from a local pick and pull on a whim, since they were $30.

Below are the measurements for the springs i grabbed from Pirate4x4.

84-88 Toy Rear 48" long 20.5" front half 27.5" rear half 2.36"
89-95 Toy Rear 51" long 21.5" front half 29.5" rear half 2.36"

Can i use the 89-95 springs? (My gut says not without moving hangers)

What ride change would result in the longer springs?
Can i combine leafs in the packs to get my ride height back without sacrificing ride comfort?

Am i asking questions that have been answered 11ty billion times before?

Thanks

RB

Yeah you can combine leafs in the pack to get a new ride height. idk if it'll hurt your ride height, but if all the springs are relatively old then its possible it might not.

Thanks guys.
I could do the Zuk mod, not crazy about adding more springs to the 4Ruster, but that is a good mod to hold me over till i get the Chevy springs.

The leafs off the donor truck appear to be in great shape, but i won't know what kinda shape they are in until i actually mount them.

Ill give an update when i alter the packs. Anyone have any tips on taking these spring packs apart to for a new pack?

thanks,
RB

Could i get longer shackles and just use the entire spring from the truck rather then combining leafs? this would essentially move my rear wheels back about an inch, is that a big deal?
Sorry for all the questions, but i can't stand looking at this beast with a saggy rear, and i just want her sitting closer to stock, with close to stock ride.

thanks,
RB

RB

obviously if someone has done this swap before, THEY will know more than me.

i'm just looking at your measurements. if you are determining your "halves" based on where the center pin of the springs is, then it seems they will not fit.

i am suggesting this because if your new front half measurement is longer, won't your front spring perch be too close? it won't move to accomodate like the shackles will in the back.

what do you think? anyone else?

He could bolt them up with just a longer 1.5 inch longer shackle. It will move your rear axle 1 inche back though

Probably not. Youll have to make sure you have enough extension in your driveshaft though. If you already bought the springs its worth just bolting them up

That's what I'm thinking. The only hesitation is the amount of rust on all the bolts. Taking it off is going to suck, however I do have new hardwear to go back on. I say hesitation because for the amount of work I don't want to put her back together in the same condition.

Well i finally got around to this and sadly it won't work. I tried using the 1.5" longer shackles, but they lay flat up against the frame, and seem to let the rear sit lower then before.
