1991 DLX Xtra Cab 2WD Automatic -Starter Relay?
About a half dozen times in the past couple of years I have experienced the intermittent no-start that I have read about on forums like this. I've done pretty much maintenance on the truck and the starter, battery and alternator are fairly new and the wiring looks good and the terminals are tight. The other day it did it (didn't start) again but when I came back an hour or so later it started right up with no hesitation as it had in the past. When it doesn't start, the lights come on as they should but I don't even get a click.
I'm thinking the next thing to replace was the starter relay since they are cheap and everything else is working fine most of the time. Other than replacing wires that look and test good, the last two parts are the ignition switch and the neutral safety switch, both of which are much more expensive than the relay and don't seem to be as likely the cause of the problem. This afternoon I went looking for it and came back unsuccessful. It wasn't in the relay block on the right wheel well under the hood where the 1993 service manual said it should be. Is it true that some trucks do not have one?
Sorry if this is a topic that has been answered before. I'm just trying connect the experience of others to this particular case.
Thanks.

Thanks for the response. The starter was replaced about a year ago with a remanufactured Denso. If it gets worse I might try some alternative wiring to figure it out. Does the neutral safety switch also act as the relay then?
