3rd gen totalled (pict attached) Time for a 4th gen!

Well, we got it! A shiny, extremely clean silver 2004 Limited 6 cyl 4x4 with what looks like every option available except the navigation system. It's a one owner w/ 55,000 documented miles.
The dealer we got it from actually misquoted the price in an email and had to honor it. Haven't even burnt a whole tank of gas yet but I'm pretty happy so far. What a difference in ride and overall refinement from the 3rd generation 4Runner it replaced. But then I said that in 2000 when that one replaced my 2nd generation 4Runner. Will be interesting to see if this one lasts as long as my 3rd gen with as few problems.
The owner's manual is missing so I'm not totally sure how to work all the stereo and HVAC controls. It is the 6 disk w/ JBL and overhead digital readout for the rear seat, so I'm assuming I'm missing the headsets and remote. I'll have to get an OM to figure all that stuff out. Minor detail and my son isn't old enough to know yet!

I know, I know. I'll try not to wait until it's trashed to take a few picts!
Found it on Cars.com with no price listed. Went onto the dealer's website and saw it listed at $26,900. Had everything including side airbags which we really wanted. It was at a Volkswagon dealer and I thought they might be easier to bargain with than a Toyota dealer. Playing dumb, I sent an inquery on the price through the Cars.com site and got an email back the next morning with $19,998 in big red letters and a confirmation of a clean carfax report! Before my jaw hit the keyboard, I emailed back and said "We have a winner, I'll be there in an hour!" Unless the vehicle was trashed it was ours. When we got there, it was darn near perfect on the outside (normal paint chips on front bumper for a 2 year old car) and the interior was immaculate except for a few scratches in the silver paint of the front door pulls. Having driven a dozen '03 to '05 4Runners with miles varying from 19k to 64k over the last few weeks, I know what a good one feels like and this one was good. So we got out the check book. My wife started in on the missing owners manual and the scratches in the door pulls. The salesman said, "Look, no one would cry if you walked away from the deal." She then asked why the vehicle was 5 grand under book value (average KBB, NADA, Edmunds). The sales guys said the quote was a mistake and it should have been $23,900. Oh well! If there can be a happy ending to having your longest lasting, most reliable vehicle ever totalled, this is it!
