Where to buy rebuilt 3.0(Motorworks?)
After deciding that due to costs my 3.0 swap is going to be a...3.0
Ive been searching where to get one as complete drop in ready as possible. Id tried searching for where to pick one up but to no luck.
Anyone every tried Motorworks? Prices go

What would be the best(inexpensive) course to take. What else on top of what motorworks would I need to buy(nothing?)
And if anyone know good sources for rebuilt engines let me know a website or a place in northern california im located 1 hour north of SF and am willing to sacramento etc

www.orientengine.com and I know jemco is in oakland and they are maybe around 1300 complete

If you are even contemplating dropping that kind of coin on a 3.0, then you have money enough to pull off a 3.4 swap. You would end up with more power, better gas milage, improved drivability, and an engine with far fewer issues than the 3.0.

Thanks for the heads up on jemco, they seem like a affordable place that is close to me. Im gonna get a quote from them for engine by itself/there installation. Also for 3.4 and 22re quotes
On another note how hard is it to swap an engine myself, im pretty mechanically inclined but lack experiance (all i had before was a 69 Nova which is by far less complicated)I have a source for the tools though. All that worries me is the electrical side of things
I really want a 3.4 because all i want is a trouble free motor, but i think the assesories I would need would set the budget over(around 2,000 maybe a little more) I do intend on getting better routed headers for the 3.0
Also I noticed that my current 3.0 is generally loud. Would getting a aftermarket fan quiet it down, or is it just me. I've never heard a good running 3vze so im not really sure what it should sound like

Still I think cost wise the 3.4 is the way to go. As for sound the 3.0 with a flowmaster sounded good to me when I had it and was semi loud. My electric fan to take out my stock one was actually louder.
Swapping a motor is not to difficult if you are mechanically inclined and have some fab skills. As for the wiring it scares just about everyone but the 3.0 to 3.4 is a very simple wire job. Get schematics for both motors. The exact Year and model schematics are required to do the wiring if you want to tackle it yourself. Off-road solutions sell a kit if you want also. Ide say dont waist a dime on the 3.0 especial mods wise cause the gain from it is very minimal if at all.
Search the forum some for motor swapping tips and reviews of what people say about it all. Its worth it and the 3.0 isnt

Heres the response I got from jenco. The price to have everything installed by them and me driving off is less then the motorworks engine by itself
In regards to your Toyota Pickup, I do have this engine available. This engine has been completely rebuilt, including new pistons and rings, new bearings and thrust washers, new oil pump, new valves and springs, etc. The cylinder heads are machined, new gaskets installed, and the cam and crankshafts are ground. When I install an engine, I also include the following:
New Oil Seals, such as camshaft, crankshaft, and rear main seals.
New Gaskets, such as intake manifold, exhaust manifold, valve cover and oil pan gaskets.
New Thermostat
New NGK Spark Plugs
And of course, oil and coolant.
Before the engine is installed, a detailed inspection is performed on your vehicle. This inspection covers things such as drive belts, timing belt, coolant hoses, etc. Should your vehicle require any additional parts that are recommended during this inspection, they can be installed at no additional labor cost to you. You would only need to pay for the parts.
Once the engine has been removed, we will inspect the engine mounts. Once again, if your vehicle requires any parts, they would be installed at no additional labor charge.
After everything is together, the vehicle enters our service department for a final inspection. The timing is set to specifications, the vehicle is road tested, standing emissions are checked, and the entire vehicle is given a detailed inspection by our ASE certified master technician. This inspection is complementary, and advises you of any other needs your vehicle may have. (such as brakes, suspension, tires, etc.)
You inquired about a 22R swap. This would not be possible in your vehicle, because none of your accessories will work.
The price for the 3VZ-E engine, installed including everything I have mentioned above plus a 6 month/6,000 mile parts AND labor warranty, would be $2,899 plus tax
That will more then likely be my route after some more research on 3.4. Thanks for the tip on offroad solution kits. Only thing that seems wierd to me is what I underlined(the engine doesnt come with a new timing belt?)

If I had to guess it comes with new timing belt. I only mentioned Jemco because I used to live in the Bay Area and I had a friend with a 22re from them and it ran very well. Also, I have been told from other local mechanics that they do good work.

There is no way you are getting a good motor for that price. For a full rebuild with toyota parts and labor, machine workand a 12mo warranty is about 4500-5000 at our shop. I would be willing to bet that motor doesnt last 90K without serious problems

what do you guys think of www.promarengine.com they have a 3.0 with almost everything you need to get it goin for 3000 i think

There are no deals on rebuilt engines, You get what you pay for. Have you looked at Jasper engines? They're expensive but do have a great warranty and the available install kit has everything (belts, hoses, filters, belts, ect.) to do the job right. I've always discouraged people putting rb engines in a car/truck unless they want to keep it a long time, It's not cheap and does nothing for the value of the vehicle (it was worth nothing not running, now it's worth book value if you can get it).
Have you thought about a junkyard 3.4? You can get a good running, low mile 3.4 with all accessories for much less than a RB 3.0. These engines last a long time and will outlast your truck. I think Toyota built engines are 100% better built than 99% of rebuilt engines out there, they'll go 200k+, I haven't seen many rb's go over 100.

Take what you got to a local automotive machine shop. Work with them one step at a time. Have all parts boiled clean for inspection. Discuss options with top dog of the shop. You may be surprised how little it will cost to rebuild what you got to as good as new. I hate buying an unknown rebuilt block. They often come with nasty surprises.
