What is this thing?
This is my first post 89 4runner so bear with me. I just bought a 92 4runner 3.0 5 speed and was changing the oil this weekend. After I pulled off the skid plate I saw this box on the right side of my front differential. What is it? I cant find anything anywhere so I knew someone here would know. Kind of wondering what it is and what it does and of its a future problem spot...Thanks.

Did you forget to attach a photograph?
Are you thinking of the A.D.D. Actuator on the left side? http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...26addcontr.pdf
(Note that left-right is usually from the driver's position looking forward, not the mechanic's position looking back. That's why you often see posters referring to "driver's side," but that just confuses our members in the UK!)

I beleive that is what it is sir...thank you. Looks like I have some reading to do and this answers a lot of questions I had. Oh well I got a good deal on this runner and it is an SR5 and everything seems to work.
